Tayama Teams with Floral Design Institute in Portland, Oregon!

Carlsbad and Los Angeles Stores makes custom Orchid Leis

We are always asked the question at our Carlsbad and Los Angeles Stores "Do you make your own leis that you sell?" The answer is "Yes, but not always".

We carry the pre-made Orchid Leis from Thailand that many other distributors also bring in.

However, what differentiates Tayama is that we have many employees on staff that can and do make custom leis on a weekly, if not always, daily basis. Therefore, if you need and desire a last-minute custom floral lei at either of our Carlsbad or L.A. stores, we can do it, any quantity, provided we have at least a day's notice (longer for orders larger than 100).

Below are some custom Single Dendrobium Orchid Leis that our Carlsbad Store whipped up in a few minutes for a customer that was "desperate" to have them "now"!

Tayama Encinitas Greenhouse "How We Ship Orchids"

We have been asked many times how we can successfully pack and ship the very delicate and beautiful Cattleya Orchid. Here is a recent step-by-step on a typical daily shipping order at our Tayama Encinitas Greenhouse.

Step One: We cut the Cattleya Blooms from the plants and place on the orchid rack. Pictured below is dark lavender japhet-sized flowers.

Step 2: We grade out, individually water-tube each bloom, then pack and double tape each bloom into a packing box. We liberally use shredded wax tissue paper to insure that the flowers do not bruise in transit. Pictured Below is our 20-bloom lavender japhet pack.

Step 3: We insulate and wrap the flower boxes with a temperature-controlling foam blanket (pictured below we conbine two twenty-pack lavender japhet boxes for a 40-bloom japhet order).

Step 4: We place the insulated boxes into a outer shipping box for extra protection (see picture below).

Step 5: 40-lavender japhet orchid box ready for Fed Ex Shipment (see below).
